Somebody Loves Me
Nothing like the reality of knowing that somebody really loves you, right? On occasion I’ll be in deep thought or occupied managing a task at hand just to be suddenly surprised by the unexpected hugs and kisses of my 2-year old grandson. He will just show up unexpectedly and throw himself on me and give me kiss after kiss on my face. My wife says I’m the only one that he does this with. Wow, I feel special.
God also showed up when I least expected him. I wasn’t even born, yet he knew that one day I would be in need of his love. So he came and made his mark on a wooden tree that has lasted over the test of time when everything else is long forgotten. It too happened unexpectedly and full of symbolic hugs and kisses, the kind that would cost him his life. God wanted to make sure that I knew just how much of his loving approval I had. It would seem strange that I could be loved sacrificially to death by a “perfect” stranger. Only thing is, while I didn’t know him, he did know me. Wow, I am special.
Feeling unloved and unappreciated? Just look to the cross and it is more than enough to validate your value in love. You see, he did it for the whole world. That’s you and me. So look up! The greatest somebody of the world loves you! Lead Pastor Rey Martinez

What in the world is SURGE?
What in the world is SURGE may be a question you’re asking yourself. The easy answer is that it’s a new monthly worship experience at Waves of Faith that will make its debut Friday August 1st. Being that WOF is a church that does everything with purpose, a more detailed answer is in order.
For starters let’s take a look at the dictionary definition of the word surge:
Surge (sûrj)
Verb
1. rise or move forward with great force; "surging waves" [syn: tide] [ant: ebb]
2. rise or heave upward under the influence of a natural force such as a wave; "the boats surged" [syn: scend]
3. see one's performance improve; "He leveled the score and then surged ahead"
4. rise rapidly; "the dollar soared against the yen" [syn: soar]
5. rise and move, as in waves or billows; "The army surged forward" [syn: billow]
As you can see by looking at what the word surge means there is an obvious tie-in to the Waves of Faith name but it goes way beyond that. A surge is something that is moving forward with great force, it’s rising rapidly; it’s moving forward, making progress. In today’s world we cannot afford to take baby steps, we’ve got to move ahead with great force. There are so many things out there today just waiting to drag us down that we’ve got to make sure to keep moving and to keep moving forward. The SURGE Experience will be something to help you do exactly that. Fast-paced, and action-packed, this will be unlike anything you’ve been exposed to before. Whether you’re tired of church as usual or don’t go to church at all, you can be sure you will walk away with something each and every time.
Here are some of the details of SURGE:
Friday Night SURGE
1. First Friday each month.
2. One hour long from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
3. Contemporary, edgy, relevant to today’s culture.
4. Simple format:
a. 20-25 minutes of high-energy worship
b. 5-7 minute personal testimony
c. 25-minute message
5. Guest speaker and worship band each month.
The Joey Rodriguez Band will be leading worship and Pastor Blake Porter will be sharing a message entitled "Do you have HOT faith?" at the first SURGE. We hope to see you there and please call Bobby Minor at 817-723-6208 if you have any questions.

Why the Logo Change?
Waves of Faith introduced a new Logo on 06-22-08 that more clearly communicates the mission of Waves of Faith. That's exactly what a good logo does, it communicates who you are. First, it symbolizes the spiritual reality that Waves is a community of faith and love that follows the one and only God, through Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Secondly, it emphasizes the responsibility of disciples which is to be and make disciples. Jesus modeled it and we follow it. This leads not only to spiritual growth in character but multiplication in numerical growth. Thirdly, it represents the diversity of Waves with it’s multi-ethnic blend and cross generational attraction. The Waves of Faith Logo definitely says something about our identity as a church and we hope that it will be a visual communicator of what we are truly all about. Lead Pastor Rey Martinez

Questions, Questions, Questions
Ever had to respond to a child who is full of questions? Questions, Questions, Questions! Life is full of questions. Let me tell you about three that you can't overlook. The first one is "Who will you live for?" You should live for the most important person in the world and as you get older you realize, it's someone bigger than you. It is a living God who knew you even before you were born (Jeremiah 1:4-5). He was here long before your light bulb was created, will be here while your life switch is on, and continue long after you life bulb goes out. He put you here to love you but you have to choose to love him as he has loved you. So all you need to do is seek out to determine exactly who he is. The second question is "What will you live for?" God says he even has the game plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11). You don't have to waste your time doing all the wrong things or satisfying what every body else says you should do. Discover what God has wired you to be and do. And the third question is "Who on earth will you live with?" Of course I'm talking about the need to be loved aside from the author of Love, God. God says he wants to fulfill your needs beyond what you could ever ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). But it will require trusting him through an intimate love and faith relationship that starts with him but also gets practiced with someone who is also following him as their life planner. I pray that you seek Him as your life plan. God says you can discover him fully through his Son Jesus who is the means by which we can freely approach this almighty God. In Christ you discover Answers, Answers, Answers. Check Him out! Rey Martinez, Lead Pastor
