What are we about?
Waves of Faith is about learning what it means to be a disciple (student) of love with God through Jesus Christ. Jesus sums it up by saying that love is at the heart of who we are and what we do. The reason why we do what we do is merely an outflow of our love relationship with God. To say we know God is to say that we love God. And to say that we love God is to say that we submit to God. And to say that we submit to God is to say that we walk in obedience to his will. There is nothing more impacting than living for an eternal impact through the power of God’s Holy Spirit in our lives.
Priority Statements
Purpose Statement
Why Are We Here?
Our Purpose as individuals is to live in a personal trusting relationship with Jesus Christ that glorifies God because He loves us and wants to change our lives. “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into he world that we might live through him." 1 John 4:9 “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." John 14:21
Mission Statement
What Are We to Do?
Our Mission is to worship God in love by leading people to connect with Christ, follow Christ, serve Christ, and share Christ. Be about Doing the Great Commandment: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength". The second is this: "Love your neighbor as yourself." There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31
Be about the Great Commission:
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
Vision Statement
What Are We to See?
Our Vision is to sensitively and creatively reach out with the love of Christ in English and Spanish to the community one neighbor at a time. “Where there is no vision, the people perish…” Proverbs 29:18a. “Though I am free and belong to no man, I make my self a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible…To the weak I became weak, to win the weak, I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.” 1 Corinthians 9:19, 22 |
